The first church was erected in 1727 on the corner where Route 9 swings into the Mills Road. However after 30 years of service the western part of the town along the river has increased in population faster than the cape so calls were made to relocate the church to a more central position. This church history started in 1732 when Kennebunkport was known as Arundel and part of the Massachusetts Bay Colony.  Since then, the church was burned, rebuilt near its present location, and later moved to where it now stands.
